It’s a new semester!
We wish a warm welcome to our new and returning members for what looks to be a great spring semester. This semester’s highlights are mostly road related (sorry ‘cross and mtb folks).
Racing is right around the corner! The SCCCC road race season kicks off in the Longhorn’s backyard at Texas State University on February 28th. The Longhorns then travel to Texas A&M, the University of Arkansas, and Midwestern State University throughout March and April, before SCCCC racing concludes at Tulane University for the conference championships.
On May 8th-10th a particularly gifted Longhorn will have the opportunity to compete in the USAC Collegiate Road National Championships in Asheville, North Carolina. This 3 day event sees some of the top road cyclists in the country fight for national recognition in the team time trial, individual time trial, road race, and criterium. Last year the Longhorns saw great success, with Mitchell Sides earning an incredible 9th place in the road race and individual time trial. Hook ’em!
A final piece of business: our first meeting is Wednesday 2/4 @ 7pm in Welch 3.502!
Spring Semester New Members: Please email our President Jeff Nagy: firstname.lastname@example.org prior to the meeting so he can fill you in on what actions you need to take to become a dues paying club or race member and all the perks that go along with membership.
Returning Members: If you have already raced one race discipline (MTB and/or cross) and are looking to race road, please plan on bringing the additional $25 to cover the add-on. This is not necessary if you used for “free race” and paid to race road.
ALL MEMBERS: We will have two Texas Cycling T-shirts designs for sale at the meeting. $13 for one shirt or $20 for two shirts.
If you are making any payments please bring cash or checks made payable to “THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT AUSTIN” and include your EID in the upper left corner by your name. Jon Medina will be able to take them after the meeting.
